PortaSplit is a mobile split air conditioning system consisting of an outdoor and indoor unit connected to a refrigerant line.

The two-part structure of PortaSplit means that there is no negative pressure in the interior. This means that the warm outside air is not sucked in and remains outside.

Typically, a portable air conditioner is not powerful enough to cool the entire room because heat is removed via a large hose. This causes a drop in air pressure, drawing warm air from outside back into the home and causing uneven cooling.

These problems do not exist with a split air conditioner, which like PortaSplit consists of an outdoor and indoor unit. With PortaSplit, the heat is released via an external heat exchanger without discharging the air to the outside, ensuring better cooling performance without changing the air pressure.

PortaSplit requires a window or door that can be opened. The outdoor unit is placed outside and the indoor unit remains in the room to be cooled. The outdoor unit can either be placed on the floor without brackets (balcony, terrace) or attached to a window with brackets. A frame is included in the scope of delivery for standard windows that can be opened to the side. For French balcony and skylight applications, the “Unviersal bracket” can be purchased as a separate accessory.

The normal window frame and the Universal frame are designed to be installed without tools and without damaging the building. This means that you can install the split air conditioner yourself without drilling. Installation takes just a few minutes, as we demonstrate in the installation videos.

The window should remain open and have a hole for the connection hose. However, this was developed to be particularly flat (2.7 cm) to keep the gap as small as possible. The included window lock prevents the window from being opened by the wind, for example. The so-called “Hot Air Stop” is included for an even better seal.

A built-in condensation pump brings any condensation to the outdoor unit, where it can drain onto the facade with the supplied condensation.

Split air conditioners are basically air-to-air heat pumps. Therefore, PortaSplit can also be used for efficient heating with a SCOP of 4.0.

A permanent installation is possible, but for safety reasons it must be carried out by a professional installer or specialist. This usually requires drilling to lay the electrical and cooling lines. If a wall breaks through, extreme caution must be taken to avoid damage.

When mounting the outdoor unit, make sure that the bracket is properly locked to the window and that the feet are set in the correct position so that the outdoor unit is roughly level. It should not be too close to the window.
